The challenge
Victoria is delivering one of the largest education infrastructure programs in its history.
The Victorian School Building Authority is managing a $4 billion construction boom creating 100 new schools across the state.
The task was to document and promote this investment in a way that felt human, credible, and grounded in real outcomes for students and communities.
The work
I travelled across Victoria to capture the scale and impact of the program on the ground.
This included filming and interviews with Premier Daniel Andrews, Deputy Premier and Minister for Education James Merlino, along with teachers, students, and school leaders at multiple sites.
South Melbourne Primary School
South Melbourne Primary School is a state-of-the-art Prep to Year 6 campus in the heart of Melbourne.
Designed as a vertical school, it integrates shared community spaces and modern learning environments, embedding the school into the surrounding neighbourhood.
The campus accommodates more than 525 students and has received multiple design accolades, including a Ministerial Commendation for Inclusive Design at the 2018 Victorian School Design Awards.
Tech Schools
Victoria’s Tech Schools represent a shift toward future-focused education.
Backed by a $128 million investment, the initiative delivered 10 specialist Tech Schools across the state, focused on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
These facilities support schools to deliver practical, industry-relevant learning and better prepare students for emerging careers.
